Hey Babes!
With everything going on this week I decided that I would really like to make a post on how to keep the immune system healthy. As you know the immune system is what makes or breaks your health. It is what can prevent you from getting a severe illness, flu, cold, and what can help you recover as well. In order to prevent yourself from getting sick, you need to make sure that your immune system is healthy. So in this post, I’m going to talk about some tips and foods you can implement to make your immune system healthy and boosted.
8 Useful Immune Boosting Tips
#1 fruit
Pro Tip: ^^ Get creative with your fruit! make muffins, smoothies, add to yogurt, have fun with it.
Lots of fruits and vegetables contain healthy antioxidant properties that can help fight antibodies from entering the cells of your body. Eating fruits will provide your body with essential vitamins that are crucial in protecting your immune system and your body. Some fruits high in vitamin C are:
- Kiwi
- Clementines (lil cuties)
- Pineapple
- Tomato
- Blueberries (have powerful antioxidant properties)
#2 vegetables
Just like fruits, these contain vitamins and minerals that can fight antibodies from destroying your system. these also can feed good bacteria in your microbiome which can also increase your immune system health. If you have a healthy immune system, you are less likely to get sick. Keeping lots of fresh or frozen or even canned veggies will keep you healthy and feeling great.
- Spinach
- Kale
- Bell peppers
- Broccoli
- Sweet potato
#3 exercise
When we sweat, we release water and along with that water are salt and other toxins that can help us from getting sick. Even just 10 minutes of a moderate workout can give you the benefits you need to fight illnesses, infections, and increase heart health. Being sedentary in this time will not prevent you from getting sick. Use this time to find yourself, get your mental health good, and increase the amount of oxygen getting to your brain and heart with some easy at-home workouts!

#4 wash your hands
This is a no brainer. But don’t wash them to much! They can dry out creating little cuts where viruses and other germs can enter easily into the blood stream. Make sure to apply lotion and go easy with the sanitizer.
#5 drink lots of water
PRO TIP: ^^ drink your water with lemon to add some more antioxidant free-radical fighting properties and keep it fun! Make sure to use a straw 😉
Drinking soda and other sugary or alcoholic beverages can make your immune system weak. Sugar can wreak havoc on the microbiome causing more bad bacteria than good. Don’t jeopardize your immune system by eating or drinking tons of sugar! Water is needed to replenish our organs, eliminate properly, and keep us hydrated in this dry season. Keeping everything moist will be a good sign that everything is functioning properly. Try to drink 32-64 oz of water during the day and even more after or before exercise. Water goes out of the body when we sweat making us dehydrated.
#6 rest and sleep

Sleeping and taking a little break from heavy-duty tasks will do wonders for your immune system. it allows everything to rest properly and allows your body to re-energize. Take the quarantined time to catch up on some much-needed rest from school, work or other taxing activities. Sleep is highly underrated as that is the time our bodies recover and heal the most.
#7 do not stress
Check it outtt: How to Reduce Stress in 14 Easy Ways
I have talked about this before but stress ruins the immune system. If you can, take this time to relax and do things you have been wanting to do that are fun to you. Staying in doesn’t have to be a burden!
Bake your favorite healthy meals, draw in a coloring book, make goals, watch a movie, make a fort, take a bath, do a facemask, anything that you find joy in, do! Exercise is another amazing stress reliever and can be done super easily in your home.
Stress attacks the immune system because of the hormone cortisol rises. If it does, try your best not to comfort with junk foods because that will further irritate stress. Try and do the activities mentioned and chill 😊
#8 Do not overload on supplements.

These can disrupt your immune system and make you even sicker than you already are. Focus on real Whole Foods that can protect your immune system and your digestive tract. A lot of people are focusing on toilet paper and packaged goods in their grocery carts when they should be truly focusing on frozen fruits, frozen vegetables, rice, beans, and other canned legumes and that’s about it.
There are also supplements and other products with false claims that are said to get rid of this virus when that has not been scientifically proven yet. Be careful about what you read on the Internet. Do what you can to prevent yourself from getting sick which means not going out into large crowds and following the tips that I mentioned above.
^^ Pin and save for later!
I really hope that you found these tips helpful. Heck, you may have already known of them but I just really wanted to explain a little bit because I’ve been learning a lot about vitamins and minerals and class. I just really wanted to share this information with you because of everything that’s going on- it seemed perfect timing.
The best thing we can do right now is to protect ourselves, our immune system, and stay positive by not letting this affect our mental health. I really hope that these were helpful, and I hope that your family stays happy and healthy!
