About Me

Sharing is caring!

So you’re here at the plant-based babe and you want to know a little bit about me!

Who is Dacia, the plant-based babe?

Well first off, hello and thank you for stopping by. My name is Dacia, (Daysha) and I am a college student getting my bachelor’s degree here in Colorado.  I am majoring in Lifestyle Medicine with a minor in Nutrition. Currently, I am on the grind running this blog, being a wife, a cat mom, and figuring out my own fitness journey too. I have 2 adorable cats, I love my husband of almost 7 years, and I love Jesus. I give my all to Him. Without Him, I would not be able to do anything or learn to have love and empathy for my self or others.

When I finish my degree, I plan on being a certified health and wellness coach. With this title, I can help coach and guide other young women with their health and wellness journey. You see, what other ‘fitness/health’ gurus have wrong, is doing it their way.

I learned that the most important way to go, is YOUR way. Not mine, or someone else’s way to get you fit, but you! If this sounds like something that interests you, I will be able to help you accomplish your goals through my own techniques and tips that have always helped me lose stubborn belly fat too.

You see, I have learned its not always about the aesthetics of how a body looks but how a body feels.

You will learn to love the way your body feels when you give it nourishment, love, confidence, and your attention. If you can learn to do that, you can do anything!

For myself, I am still learning tons, still, struggle from time to time, and always learn new techniques that will assist in my journey but also YOURS.

Wait- is Plant-Based the same thing as vegan?

No it is not. So, when we are discussing a ‘plant-based diet’ this just means a ‘diet’ that focuses on whole foods from the earth with a majority of it being in plants. I do eat animal products occasionally, but my diet approaches and reference to plant-based is a diet rich in nutrient-dense foods like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and little to no animal products.

about me dacia w

“The more plants you have in your diet, the better the diet is for you. You can still eat meat and be plant-based! My approach is about being flexible and enjoying food without feeling overly restricted or guilty.”

A vegan diet excludes all animal products including eggs, dairy, meat, and fish. It is a very restrictive lifestyle that can result in deficiencies if not planned properly. This diet is unlike the whole foods plant-based diet because you can still have vegan processed foods like fake chicken nuggets, fries, burgers, desserts, and more.

A whole food plant-based diet relies on nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and nourishment on foods rather than supplements and AVOIDS processed foods. Processed food can literally lower your lifespan and hurt your health in the long wrong not matter if they are vegan or not.

Why am I passionate about health and wellness?

I am passionate about this because I want to help people. It is in my nature to heal others and share my story with you for inspiration so you know you aren’t alone. I want to be that person you can talk too when you feel you have nowhere else to go. I believe we need more compassion, love, and acceptance in this industry/ community.

My thought process behind health is that everyone should be as healthy as they can so we can flatten the curve of disease, be confident and happy, and live a long vibrant life.

The main reason I have this blog is to educate others who struggle with weight loss too. You see, I don’t believe that a health and fitness journey stops once you hit your ‘goal’. I want to focus on how I can help you not only lose weight but maintain, or even gain weight if needed too. We are always growing and science is evolving.

Unfortunately, everyone struggles with body image, mental health, physical health, and more. I too have struggled with these and I want to try and help others combat them like I have many times.

“Do you constantly diet? Feel sad or lacking confidence? Well you are not alone. Everyone tries a ‘fad’ diet or another type of diet every year. It doesn’t have to be that way.”

With my techniques, I find evidence-based methods that actually work when done right. They also do not eliminate food groups, types of foods, or make you follow a vigorous/ rigorous fitness plan.

It is my goal to create future programs to cater to these values of mine when I officially graduate school so that I can focus 100% on you.

For now, go ahead and check out some of my blog posts that I have! I will admit, I am always learning and some of my content may seem off with other posts, BUT I admit my faults and understand that as I learn more in school, I will learn more about health and wellness and fitness.

xoxo
