The science says it all when it comes to boredom eating. In fact, an article from PubMed says this,
“We propose that state boredom increases eating in an attempt to distract from this experience, especially among people high in objective self-awareness.”
So, in the current situation, we are in aka Quarantine, I decided to put out some helpful yet fun things to do when you are bored-besides eating all the snacks!
First, I have a few tips!! They are easy tips to help you stay on track by losing weight quickly and maintaining too if you hit your goals before this all happened.
- Go on a 7-Day Detox! Why not? What else you got going on?! (affiliate link 😄 )
- Don’t buy the trigger foods. If you have them, learn the serving size and use a scale to measure it out. This will put mindfulness to foods.
- Drink water instead.
- Try not to stress bake! Instead, make a 1 serving dessert like this protein cookie dough
- Eat HIGH protein, high fiber foods! I have a whole post on foods you can eat to keep you feeling full and satisfied that you can check out: 30+ foods to help you feel full on a diet
Okay but now…
What to do when you are bored besides eating everything!
- Write a story
- Read a book. I would love to read this book. I saw the movie and the book sounds amazing!
- Color in a fun coloring book
- Learn to Draw with this Drawing book
- Build a fort
- Have a dance party in your room! Here are two videos that will burn lots of calories while having fun!
- Go for a walk
- Practice your makeup
- Give yourself a makeover
- Watch a movie while doing these lazy booty building hacks
- Enroll in a blogging course! This is what I used and I LOVED it! (The link is an affiliate link)
- Play card games
- Read the Bible. This is the Bible I have and I love it so much!
- Deep clean your house!

- Do your laundry, wash your sheets

- Do some arts n crafts
- Play with an animal or child or spouse. Hide and go seek, catch, make a paper airplane, string its all fun!
- Facetime or call family members
- Practice bullet journal lettering

- Look at old photo albums on your phone, computer or a photo book
- Make goals for your health & fitness

Try a 1000-piece puzzle
As you can see, there are TONS of things you can do instead of eating. Sometimes you want to just hang out and not do anything at all! And that’s okay too! But like the scientific article says, when we do mundane tasks that we hate, we give in to our cravings and begin to eat. Try something new, tap into your creativity, make money online, and do something fun and productive! This will be so fun and it will allow you to get out of your comfort zone!
Its okay to have fun and act like a kid occasionally! This is the time to do it since we have all the time in the world.
