Victoria’s Secret models have been glowing since 1977 when it was founded. With controversies and strict model diets through the years, we can analyze what’s healthy and what’s not. Many models go into a starvation type diet because of their agencies, the brands they represent, mental health, and the constant spotlight they are under.
I only know some of this because of a YouTuber named Natalia Taylor who spills all the tea on how it really is to be a model, check it out here! But Victoria’s Secret seems different to me. They look rather toned and healthy with glowy skin! Yes, there is photoshop, genetics, and body tanning at play but it actually takes a lot of work to get where they are. Looking at Romee Strijd in particular, I have been very inspired by her lately because of how stunning she is and the healthy habits she incorporates.
Strijd has her own YouTube channel and is currently building popularity vlogging her life as a VS Angel. I wanted to talk about this because I, like so many others around this time of year, have become unmotivated to eat healthily. Once I watched a couple of her videos, I realized how important It is to take care of your body and keep it running right. She instantly motivated me to eat nutrient-dense foods, take care of my skin, and even do my hair lol.
So, with all this said, let’s get into the healthy habits that I personally noticed she does as well and what some of them do in general!
Their diets are on POINT- but not extremely restrictive
A lot of the models share that they do not strict-diet. In fact, they eat nutrient-dense meals packed full of veggies, fruits and protein. This is the best way to eat because its easier to stay lean when you feel full. The easiest way to feel full is to eat a larger amount of protein and a huge portion of greens. The VS models are not afraid of carbs but eat them in moderation and in appropriate amounts.
Carb sources like oatmeal, brown rice, and sweet potatoes are delicious foods that will not only give you essential amino acids and give you energy fueling nutrients, they will also give you slow releasing energy to keep them full on an active day. Romee and Candice Swanepoel stress the importance that everybody is different, and they all have different diet regimens.
The biggest takeaway? Stay away from processed foods, eat your veggies, limit sugar.
They take great care of their skin-with minimal products
Romee says that she keeps it simple with her skincare. She likes to use a hydrating face mask about every week, serums, sunscreen-tinted moisturizer and cold water splashed on the face every morning. Strijd’s also is a big fan of jade rolling, facial massage and facials.

They get up and MOVE- like a lot
Okay so all the girls are different but the biggest takeaway from what they do in the gym is doing workouts they LOVE. This is key ladies! Doing workouts, you love will make you enjoy being active and achieving your goals. A typical workout regime for them is exercising 2 times a day almost every day because it’s their full-time job! You don’t need to do this (2 times a day) as no one really has the time, however, getting to the gym or going for a walk is key to a healthy life for your heart, brain, and skin health.
Some of the workouts they enjoy are Pilates, weight lifting, yoga, cycle classes, boxing, and HIIT. These are all great forms of training as they all BUILD MUSCLE and burn fat! This is key to getting a sculpted look if that’s what you want. High-intensity workouts are also beneficial for living a healthy lifestyle in general 😊

They drink their water-sometimes with lemon
The models swear by drinking at least a gallon of water a day! Romee says bringing a big water bottle with you helps a lot. She mentions Drinking water as her snack because most of the time when you think you’re hungry you may be thirsty. Another great way to get more water and health in, is to drink water with lemon. Be careful of doing this without a straw or to much because it can cause acid erosion to the teeth!

They don’t cut out the foods they love
Ah yes, I’m sure you all were wondering if they are restrictive af and never have fast foods and cookies. Truth is, they are always on the go, which means snacks here and there, plane rides, hotels, and different cities. They have their treats when they can but the key is enjoying them in moderation without binging because they focus on how it will make them feel. Girls like Britt Maron must have dessert in the evenings. The key is to focus on fueling their body though, so they won’t go all out with junkie sweets. Usually, a great dessert is to have fruits and a probiotic yogurt or some organic Hu Chocolate like Romee.
Mentioned in an interview, they don’t really do a restrictive diet but focus on whole foods, and enjoy sweets occasionally.
Do lymph related massages
Romee stresses that lymphatic massages and facials are an important part of her routine in her videos. Lymph massage helps with water retention, making her look toned and feeling much more refreshed after a long flight or even a heavy day of eating.
You can do this too by using a cheaper dry brush from Amazon. This one by Eco Tools is what I use, and it makes my skin smoother, my stomach flatter, and helps release toxins! I also like using Bentonite clay for my face masks because it transforms my skin- on a budget 😉
They incorporate fasting times-and snacks too!
Upon my research, I found that the VS models like to eat a small breakfast or coffee for breakfast. They also usually space out their meals and eat 3 portioned meals a day if not 2 big meals and a few healthy snacks. Intermittent fasting has a load of benefits so its no ‘secret’ that these ladies are doing it. I tend to accidentally skip breakfast or intermittent fast because I’m just not hungry when I wake up… This is typically what they do too.

They listen to their body
When reading interviews of what they do to get runway or photoshoot ready, the models listen to their bodies. I think this says a lot about their health and how their relationship with food and exercise truly is. I know that Romee stresses this mentality and has learned what works for her. For example, she explains that dairy bloats her, so she stays away from it because it doesn’t make her feel good. She also drinks mostly matcha teas because coffee may not agree with her. Taking probiotics also has helped her with digestion while feeling great and energized throughout the day. Rest days are equally as important as their workouts for recovery. The girls also focus on how some workouts are better for them than others. Kudos to them!

They are strong, eat good foods, and work hard for what they want. It is so beautiful to see that they take care of their bodies for their health and longevity.
