Hello Fit Babes!
Today we will be looking at some yummy yet nutritious sweet snacks, that can satisfy your sweet tooth. These do not contain added sugars or extra ingredients because we are trying to be out here reaching our goals! So with that said, the snacks picked below are healthy whole food snacks that are plant-based and also satiating.
These snacks provide an adequate amount of carbs, healthy fats, and of course protein. Protein is extremely important to provide the satiety your body needs so you can feel nice and full without going overboard on a bunch of calories. If you want to lose some extra fat, going for a higher protein snack is going to be perfect for you so you can eat less calories. Remember, in order to lose weight you have to be in a caloric deficit and so forth.
PRO TIP: Try to get in a good breakfast lunch or dinner if you feel like you constantly snack. This will help you to not go overboard with unnecessary foods when you are actually just thirsty! it’s also important to make sure you are getting enough calories in the day whether you are in a deficit or not 🙂 Make sure you eat enough in your meals so you can see progress but not from a bunch of snacks.
Here are some tasty AF healthy snacks to have on occasion when the sweet tooth hits.
Toasted Unsweetened Coconut Shreds + Dark Chocolate + Almonds
So here we have the snack of toasted coconut and dark chocolate with almonds. This isn’t anything crazy but the biggest thing to note is EVERYTHING IS UNSWEETENED. The chocolate is by Lillys and is 70% cocoa sweetened with stevia and the coconut naturally sweetened in the oven no oil.
This is a nutrient-dense snack with high fats and of course chocolate to satisfy the want for some chocolate.
Date Protein Balls
Another high protein but all-natural sweet snack, these protein balls are a satisfying snack perfect for studying when you need a quick pick me up. Give these a go and have them on hand for the hankering sweet tooth.
BUT, be careful about how many you consume as again, these are very nutrient-dense!
Berries + Dark Chocolate OR Almond Butter
We going to add a lil bit of fruit in this one because fiber is #life! You need to have plenty of fiber from fresh fruit and veggies so you can feel full and your digestion can be optimized and running smoothly. And I say or almond butter because you can easily overdo it with this snack on the calories. Be careful and use mindful portions or serving sizes when eating this wholesome healthy treat.
Protein ‘Pudding’
Protein Pudding is one of my favorite ways to sneak in more protein for my gainz without drinking a protein shake. it also adds some fat so that way I can feel super full for a longer period of time. The protein that’s my absolute favorite is the Orgain Chocolate Fudge Protein because it tastes bomb, has a lot of vegan protein, fiber and its SUGAR-FREE.
Directions:
Make a coconut whipped cream (OR YOGURT), put in bowl, add your fave protein, mix and eat! You can top this with some fruit, granola or whatever you want to satisfy you. This is so good and you will thank me later!
How to make coconut Whipped Cream:
- 1 can of full-fat coconut milk or 1 can of just coconut CREAM
Directions:
- Chill the canned coconut milk overnight. do not shake it because you want the coconut cream on the top. also at this time, put a bowl in the freezer so its super cold when you make the cream.
- Open the can, scoop out as much of the coconut cream as you can and place it in a frozen metal bowl.
- electric mix the coconut cream for a few minutes until it looks fluffy like cool-whip!
- You don’t need to add sweetener to this as things you can dip this in are sweet! but add vanilla creme liquid stevia drops to make it taste like marshmallow fluff!
Chia Seed Pudding + Berries
This is another satisfying higher fat food that can give you extra nutrients like omega 3’s and focus. Chia seeds are also hydrating and filling for you so you can really reap the benefits of this snack.
PSS, it’s also super high in fiber which is good *insert thumbs up emoji here*
Celery + Peanut Butter + Apples + Dark Chocolate
This is self-explanatory but the apples provide a lil sourness with the sweets and the celery adds more water and fiber. Celery provides antioxidants and reduces inflammation which is good for joint and immune health. While apples also provide hydration and fiber, they lower bad cholesterol levels and support brain health. Dark chocolate provides that chocolate need while giving great vitamins and minerals like iron and magnesium which are important for muscle recovery.
Dates + Almond Butter
Dates and almond butter taste like such a desert! this is a really nutrient/ calorie-dense snack that is not only filling but DELICIOUS. These sweet fruits provide potassium which is important for the nervous system and hydrating your body through electrolytes. It’s also a perfect alternative to other sugary treats and tastes great made into a caramel dip. Almond butter is high in fat and also high in antioxidants, vitamin e, and can aid in blood sugar levels.
Cotton Candy Grapes + Coconut Whip Cream
Cotton candy grapes are soo sweet that you only need a few to satisfy the sweet tooth but they are so healthy for you that is worth it to check them out. Cotton candy grapes are a fantastic combo of different grapes bred together to create the iconic childhood flavor.
Have a little bowl of these with your coconut whip or yogurt and you are set.
Almond Butter + Banana + Sprouted Toast
Okay, bread is LIFE. I have been experimenting with the keto diet now for about 1.5 months and I haven’t had my favorite Ezekiel bread in what feels an eternity. This is one of my go-to snacks when I really want something sweet and delicious yet filling and healthy. Ezekiel bread is better than normal bread because.
It has grains you need like wheat, millet, barley, and spelt with legumes like soybeans and lentils. This provides protein and slow-releasing energy. It also does not contain extra sugar and you are able to digest it better because it is sprouted. I also love this company because they pull it straight from the bible in
Ezekiel 4:9 ” Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself…”
Tea, Smoothie or Soda Water
Drinking something may make you feel full because sometimes your body is just thirsty and your body is trying to tell you this. Try drinking a bunch of water, tea, soda water or something that is 0 calorie first.
If you still feel like you could eat, imagine eating lunch and if you think that sounds like too much, you aren’t actually hungry and are just feeling peckish. However, if you do want something, try a juicy fruity smoothie to curb the craving with some water, vanilla protein, SF powdered peanut butter, and a banana! this is one of my favorite smoothie combos.
Alright! That’s the best snack combos to create a delicious healthy snack that actually provides benefits too! Don’t eat a bunch of chips, processed foods, or sugar-filled bars before actually evaluating what it will do for your health! replace it with nutrient-dense foods that are actually good for you! Try these out, give it a comment down below on which snack is your favorite!
Is there one I missed? If so, leave a comment down below so we can all see!
